Automotive Body Parts Association

Fueling Policy Change and Industry Leadership Through Custom Research

  • The Challenge

The Auto Body Parts Association (ABPA) needed a credible, compelling way to support its push for national right-to-repair legislation — a key issue impacting its membership.

While the issue had traction within the industry, it lacked the data-backed research on consumer impacts necessary to influence policy, sway public opinion, and energize its own membership.

  • Our Approach

ABPA turned to Depth Services to design a research project that could bridge that gap—something powerful enough to land in Congress and accessible enough to win over both media and consumers.

We developed and executed a full-scale, mixed-methods research initiative including a national survey, in-depth interviews, rigorous analysis, and a report with visual storytelling, clear narrative framing, and actionable insights..

The Results

The report was picked up by multiple national and trade media outlets, putting ABPA’s message in front of a much wider audience.

It provided a clear, data-backed foundation for lobbying and is now being actively used in Congressional discussions on right-to-repair legislation.

Internally, it energized ABPA’s membership base by showing that the association was willing to invest in bold, public-facing research to advocate on their behalf.

  • "Partnering with Depth Services was a turning point for our right to repair advocacy. Dr. B led a rigorous research initiative that has had an outsized impact, and continues to open doors we couldn’t reach before."
